Introduction
The National University of Malaysia (known as "Sultan Idris Education University" in Malay, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, abbreviated as "UPSI") was formerly known as the Sultan Idris Malay Teachers Training College of Perak, established in 1922. It is located in Tanjung Malim, Perak, about 2 hours away from Kuala Lumpur. It is the only public teacher training university in Malaysia. Since 2008, it has been accepting international students. The university has over 30,000 students and more than 2,000 staff members. In 2023, it was ranked 182nd in the QS World University Rankings for Asia.
Campus
The National University of Malaysia is a public university under the Malaysian Ministry of Education and its qualifications are widely recognized. As Malaysia is part of the Commonwealth education system, its qualifications are internationally recognized. The university is recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education, and its qualifications can be certified upon returning to China.PSI is located in Tanjung Malim, the second largest city in the state of Perak, Malaysia. It currently has two main campuses: the Sultan Zainal Abidin Campus (Old Campus) and the Sultan Azlan Shah Campus (New Campus), with construction underway for a third campus. It has nearly 2,000 staff members and 30,000 students, including international students from over 20 different countries such as China, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Brunei, Singapore, and Libya. Additionally, UPSI provides professional distance education to over 10,000 in-service primary and secondary school teachers, making it a major teacher training institution in Malaysian society.UPSI comprises nine faculties: the Faculty of Languages and Communication (FBK), the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts (FSMP), the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FPPM), the Faculty of Technology and Vocational (FPTV), the Faculty of Management and Economics (FPE), the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSMT), the Faculty of Humanities (FSK), the Faculty of Sports Science and Coaching (FSSK), and the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries (FSKIK). UPSI offers more than 60 undergraduate programs, over 90 master's programs, and more than 130 doctoral programs for students to choose from. It adopts the educational system and teaching methods of Europe and America, with flexible and diverse classroom teaching methods primarily aimed at developing students' problem-solving abilities, creativity, and teamwork skills.
